Djuric: Serbia becoming "hot island". Belgrade, Sumadija, Pomoravlje and South to "burn" in heatwave
Yet another heatwave is picking up speed in Serbia, with temperatures forecast to reach 40 degrees centigrade once again - the toughest day will be Wednesday, although it will not be much cooler tomorrow either.
The hottest weather on Wednesday will be in Nis - 39 degrees, but locally it is possible to expect 40 degrees, especially in the area of central Serbia, meteorologist Djordje Djuric told us.
"In most areas, the temperature will be 37 to 38 degrees, locally up to 40. Kosava (wind) will also blow. But the difference in temperatures in different cities will be minuscule. Perhaps the warmest weather can be expected in Cuprija and Smederevska Palanka, where 40 degrees has been recorded in the previous wave as well," said Djuric.
South of Belgrade is where "Hell's Island" will certainly form. While temperatures will go up to 36 to 37 degrees tomorrow in the north of the country, and 37 is forecast for Belgrade - Kragujevac, Kraljevo and Nis will have 38 degrees, while the high in Pristina will be 36 degrees. 38 degrees are forecast in the west of the country as well.
Then, a hot night with 26 degrees in Belgrade and 22 in the north of the country will follow. During Wednesday, a breath of refreshment will reach the north and west, where it will be cooler by a degree or two, in Loznica by 3 degrees. However, hot weather will continue in Belgrade (38), Kragujevac (38), Kraljevo (38), Nis (39), Pristina (38), Negotin (37).
Thursday will also be warm, but above all in central and southern parts of the country, while Belgrade will already have somewhat cooler weather.
However, in the north and east, with a slight drop in temperature, precipitation may occur on Wednesday, while on Thursday and during the weekend, the whole of Serbia will get a respite. However, if precipitation happens to be heavier, we will have a weekend without going to the beach.
The RHMZ high temperature alert is in force, which is valid until July 15.
"From Tuesday until Thursday, weather will be sunny and very warm with the highs of 35 to 39 degrees. Only on Thursday, it will be partly cloudy in the north of the country with temperatures between 32 to 34 degrees."
That warning is valid for Belgrade until Wednesday.
"On Tuesday and Wednesday, it will sunny and very warm with the highest temperatures of 36 to 38 degrees."
