The prime minister of the provisional institutions in Pristina, Albin Kurti, has appointed Andin Hoti as the chairman of the Commission for Missing Persons, it was announced from Kurti's cabinet.

"The issue of the missing is one of the priority issues of the government of Kosovo, and today's appointment shows that this topic goes beyond politics. It is important that the government of Kosovo has a united front against Serbia in our demands for dealing with the past," said the statement, according to a Gazeta Express report.

It adds that it is necessary to do the best to alleviate the "pain and anxiety" with an effort to resolve the fate of the missing.

Andin Hoti is the son of Ukshin Hoti, an independence activist who disappeared in 1999.
