A driver, a renowned cardiologist from Novi Pazar, lost his life in a traffic accident that happened near Lajkovac, on the 63rd kilometer of the Milos Veliki Highway, from the direction of Cacak toward Belgrade.

His wife suffered serious bodily injuries, while the three children have slight, non life-threatening injuries, it has been confirmed for RINA at the General Hospital in Valjevo, where the patients were rushed after the accident.

The traffic accident occurred when the driver lost control of his Audi and landed off the road.

"He was moving for some 200 meters along the overtking lane, and in the end crashed into a canal that is about ten meters from the highway," one of the eyewitnesses told RINA.

The cause of this accident, that did not involve any other vehicles, is still unknown.

The family of five left Novi Pazar this morning on their way to Belgrade.
