Serbian municipality warns people about heatwave, provides detailed instructions about what to do
Based on an alert issued by Republic Hydrometeorological Institute (RHMZ) about very high temperatures (from 36 to 40 degrees Celsius) in the period from June 22 to 25, the Municipal Headquarters for Emergency Situations in the town of Arilje warned the population to be careful.
- Avoid staying outdoors, especially children and the elderly, from 10 am until 4 pm
- If you have to be outdoors, it is necessary to drink enough water
- Risk groups should pay attention to nutrition
- While outdoors, wear clothes of lighter colors, made of natural materials, with obligatory head protection
- Chronic patients, on the advice of their doctor, should use regular prescribed therapy
- Ventilation of residential buildings should be done in the early morning and at night
- Due to the low water level of the River Rzava, citizens are warned to use drinking water for its purpose, in order to avoid supply disruptions
- Citizens are warned not to incinerate plant and other types of waste, in order to avoid the danger of starting fires
RHMZ issued an alert this morning about very high temperatures in Serbia, and it shows that cooler weather will arrive only on Saturday, but will be short-lived. RMHZ stressed that on Thursday, the highs will go up to 40 degrees in some places.
"Until Friday, June 25, the weather will be very warm in Serbia with maximum temperatures in most places ranging from 35 to 38 degrees, and on Thursday locally up to 40. From Saturday until Monday, June 26-28, the temperatures will drop by 5 to 8 degrees, and then the weather will again be very warm," reads the alert published at 4:45 this morning.
