Vucic and Russian diplomat discuss organizing President Putin's visit to Serbia
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic today spoke with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Aleksandr Grushko, with whom he agreed that every visit of Russian officials is a confirmation of the high degree of mutual understanding and testimony to good Serbian-Russian cooperation.
Vucic expressed hope that we could arrange visits of high ranking Russian officials, including President Putin, the president's press service announced.
Grushko, as the closest associate of Minister Sergei Lavrov, expressed assurances about further improvement of otherwise close cooperation between the two countries.
Apart from bilateral relations and future joint projects, Vucic and Grushko also discussed the situation in the region and, in that regard, the course of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
President Vucic stressed that the Serbian delegation had a difficult day in Brussels, but firmly represented state and national interests, fighting for a political compromise. On this occasion, he thanked Russia for its active support in defending the integrity and independence of Serbia in international forums.
President Vucic also thanked Russia for its help during the Covid-19 pandemic and for deliveries of the Sputnik V vaccine, and especially for enabling joint production of those vaccines at the Torlak Institute in Belgrade, whose trial operation he officially launched together with President Putin.
