"Kurti asked when we'll recognize so-called Kosovo, didn't address ZSO": Vucic on meeting's details

A new round of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina was held in Brussels today at the high political level between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister of the Provisional Institutions in Pristina Albin Kurti, as well as EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell and EU special representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak.

Kurti: We had four proposals

Prime Minister of the Provisional Institutions in Pristina Albin Kurti said that the Pristina side was constructive in the conversation in Brussels and that it made four proposals.

"The other side talked about old ideas. We gave four ideas. To initiate the SEFT agreement, to sign a peace agreement that we will not attack each other. To remove Veljko Odalovic from the Serbian delegation for missing persons," Kurti told reporters.

As the fourth proposal the mentioned the issue of minorities, i.e. of bilateral reciprocity, according to which Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija would have a national council, like Albanians do in central Serbia.

"Our last three proposals were rejected, but there was no answer regarding SEFTA. I hope that they will seriously consider the proposal that we presented today," said Kurti.

Vucic after the meeting: Albanians do not want to fulfill any obligation

After the meeting, the president of Serbia said that it was agreed to continue negotiations by the end of July.

"The Albanian delegation does not want to fulfill its obligations, therefore they do not want to form the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO), they asked to know immediately when we would recognize an independent Kosovo and consider it a provocation that Serbs attend liturgies," said Vucic.

He said that there was "absolutely nothing that Kurti and he would agree on, because he said at the beginning of the meeting that he came to Brussels to ask him when he would recognize an independent Kosovo."

"I replied that it will never happen," said the Serbian president.

He added that what was attempted today was to end the dialogue, because they expected the Belgradedelegation to walk out from the meeting.

"We talked about missing persons, I spoke how important it is to know the place where every Albanian and every Serb is buried. We will continue with our rational approach. In the coming days, we will have to talk with Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija. I am very much afraid because I saw how much irresponsibility we will have to face in the future," said the president of Serbia.

Before the joint meeting, Borrell and Lajcak spoke separately with Kurti and Vucic.

Petkovic: Belgrade is committed to continuated dialogue, Borrell will inform Biden about that

The director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, said that the Serbian delegation led by President Aleksandar Vucic once again today stressed its commitment to the continuation of the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština and its readiness to seek a compromise solution.

After a bilateral meeting between the Serbian delegation with EU representatives - Josep Borrell and Miroslav Lajcak, Petkovic said that Borrell understood Belgrade's commitment to dialogue and said that he would also inform US President Joe Biden about the details of the trilateral meeting.

According to him, President Vucic pointed out that it's essential and of most interest to us whether there will be movement in the dialogue itself.

"That is crucial for us and that is why we are in Brussels," said Petkovic and added that the issue of missing persons, energy and big topics that burden relations between Belgrade and Priština were supposed to be discussed at today's meetings.

"Dialogue is important, Serbia is the most important"

The president of Serbia spoke before the meeting with European officials and said that "dialogue is important."

"The beginning, I hope, of a good day for Serbia here in Brussels. Dialogue is important, Serbia is the most important," he said in a post on Instagram.
