During summit, Kurti called on Serbia to recognize so-called Kosovo, Brnabic: That is our territory
The Summit of the Leaders of the Western Balkans is being held today in the Palace of Brigades in Tirana, with the participation of Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic and Prime Minister of the Provisional Institutions of Pristina Albin Kurti.
"Today's meeting was less dedicated to regional topics, it was difficult and it seems to me that some people mistook Serbia's constructive approach for us being spineless, so we had to show that some things are unambiguous," said the prime minister.
Asked whether she spoke with Albin Kurti before the meeting, the prime minister said that the exchange of opinions took place during it:
"There was an exchange of opinions at the meeting itself, there were some provocations, but he received an adequate answer. I said that we are not equal partners and that there is a big difference," Brnabic said.
During the Summit of the Western Balkans today, Prime Minister of the Provisional Institutions of Pristina Albin Kurti requested that the regional trade agreement CEFTA be redefined, where so-called Kosovo would be treated as a state.
Kurti also called on Serbia to recognize so-called Kosovo.
Prime Minister Brnabic responded to these provocations by saying that the current format works well and that there is no legal argument to change anything, because Kosovo is a part of Serbia.
Brnabic reminded Kurti that so-called Kosovo is not recognized by five EU members, that it is not a member of the UN and that in that sense it certainly cannot have a status different from the existing one.
Kurti reacted to that with the question, "What are you going to do, do you want to occupy us?" - to which Ana Brnabic replied, "How do you think we might occupy our own territory?"

The summit is also attended by European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi, who will discuss with the heads of delegations of the Western Balkans what has been achieved so far in the Berlin Process for the recovery of the region, said government's Media Office.
As announced, preparations to implement the Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans will also be discussed.
