Negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina to continue: New round of dialogue has been scheduled
A new round of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina will be held on June 15 in Brussels, EU spokesman Peter Stano has said.
"The meeting will be attended by President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, and for the first time by the new prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti," announced Stano.
Stano added that the meeting will be mediated by EU diplomacy chief Josep Borrell and EU special representative for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina Miroslav Lajcak.
The EU and member-states expect the authorities in Pristina to engage constructively in the continuation of the dialogue with Belgrade, which is being conducted under the auspices of the EU, the EU spokesman said earlier.
Asked about the announcements of the prime minister of so-called Kosovo, Albin Kurti, that he is coming to Brussels for a new chapter and not for the continuation of the dialogue, he said that both sides are expected to continue their committed engagement in the dialogue and implementation of all agreements reached so far.
"The dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina started in 2011 and will soon continue with a meeting at the highest political level. During this process, which is still ongoing, the governments on both sides have changed, but the obligations have remained the same," Stano stressed at the time.
