New explosion and fire at Sloboda plant, smoke is seen above factory grounds
Workers of Sloboda, a Cacak-based defense industry company, who were previously told to come to work this morning, have been once again prevented from entering the factory by the police.
According to the locals, another strong explosion took place at this factory last night.
"Another detonation was heard last night, after that smoke was seen in the direction of Sloboda, we assume that there was a fire again," the locals who live near the factory told RINA.
Workers are waiting to enter, but they are unable to do that.
"We've been informed to come to work. We don't know anymore, now we are waiting to be told what to do. We heard that there was another explosion and a fire last night," said one of the workers.
In the previous days, Serbian Army helicopters were used to put out the fire at Sloboda, dropping over 100,000 liters of water on the site.
A series of explosions occurred in the night between Thursday and Friday in a military warehouse about 800 meters away from the production facilities. 45 firefighters took part in extinguishing the fire, while all 60 people who were working the night shift got successfully evacuated and there were no human casualties. It is still not known exactly what caused this accident, and a commission has been formed to find out.
