Frightening scenes in Cacak shaken by series of explosions: "It was like this only in 1999"

Residents of Cacak spent a sleepless night last night because of strong explosions that shook their town, which originated from the military company Sloboda. Fortunately, no one was injured, all workers were evacuated to safety, but citizens did not find peace all night and say that it was like this only in 1999 (during NATO bombing).

As the RINA agency has learned, fire broke out in a warehouse storing cannon shells in the settlement of Pridvorica. Large quantities of ammunition are in stock in this defense industry plant, and citizens were afraid that the fire would spread.

"We were awakened by a terrible noise, this is horrible. Everything is shaking. Explosion after explosion. Everyone went outside in the middle of the night. It's as if we're at war, it was like this only in 1999," one of the eyewitnesses told RINA.

It's still unknown what caused the explosion.

The first explosion took place in a grenade depot.

Its force shattered windows on nearby homes.

Firefighters and ambulance crews were at the scene.

The mayor of Cacak revealed that there were no casualties, and that all workers were evacuated to safety in time.

"There were no human casualties or injuries in the series of explosions. There is no reason for citizens to be concerned. 30 workers of the company and the surrounding population have been evacuated. Members of the fire brigade and the Sloboda's firefighting unit are on the ground," said Mayor Todorovic.

Videos show detonations echoing as smoke is spreading through the city. Residents said that everything smelled of gunpowder.
