This is why tourists from all over the world flock to Serbia: Kayaking on the wild Drina River

Kayaking is becoming more and more popular in Serbia, because it is a way to see the nature that surrounds us from a new perspective and enjoy it. This sport is especially popular on the Drina, one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe.

"The particular view and endless greenery are just some of the trump cards that made us decide to go kayaking on the Drina. We are here for the first time, the place is beautiful, it's a good combination of views of the river and the mountain, it's great for hiking and kayaking," say German tourists.

Despite the fact that the Drina River is known as for being a moody and rapid river, kayaking is adapted to all ages and abilities, and you do not need any previous experience.

"With adequate equipment and a guide, the descent is fantastic. There is no need to panic. Although this is a large river, it still has its charms, especially in the summer when the water level is lower. Although the water is a bit more rapid, it can be enjoyed, but it's not dangerous or risky, so everyone can practice paddleboarding. There have been six year old children, as well as 70-year-olds who stood up on a board for the first time and enjoyed themselves," Miloje Jovanovic, a member of the "Zeleni Medved" ("Green Bear") association has told RINA.

The Tourist Organization is of the opinion that the coronavirus pandemic has led people to spend more and more free time within the borders of our country and to think about alternatives such as returning to nature.

"Domestic tourists have realized the advantages of the Drina River and are increasingly going for paddleboarding on the river. Until recently, this was 'reserved' for foreigners, it was more interesting to them, however, now our people also practice it regularly," said Sinisa Spasojevic from the Tourist Organization Tara-Drina.
