Who's "most irresponsible" in Serbia? 15 cities with over 50% vaccinated, 3 have under 25%
According to the latest data, 2,066,153 adult citizens in Serbia have received both doses of the coronavirus vaccin, meaning that we currently have about 38 percent of the population fully vaccinated. 15 cities have more than 50 percent of vaccinated adult population, while three towns are spoiling the average - Novi Pazar, Tutin and Lajkovac.
As Director of the Government Office for eGovernment Mihailo Jovanovic has said, in addition to the 15 cities where more than 50 percent of the adult population has been vaccinated, 20 other cities are very close and that number will exceed in the next few days.
"Only three local governments have less than 25 percent vaccinated people: Tutin, Novi Pazar and Lajkovac," Jovanovic told RTS.
Jovanovic said that 12.5 percent of young people between the ages of 18 and 25 have been vaccinated so far, as well as 20 percent of those between the ages of 25 and 30.
Djerlek: Goal is to have over 50 percent vaccinated in June
State Secretary in the Ministry of Health Mirsad Djerlek said that the only way to ensure a calmer summer is to vaccinate more than 50 percent of adult citizens in June, and added that he is in favor of introducing new models to stimulate vaccination.
According to him, vaccinating more than 50 percent of the population does not mean reaching collective immunity, but it does means establishing control over the epidemic.
Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic was more specific yesterday when she that she will feel much calmer when 56 percent of citizens have been vaccinated with two doses.
She said that in Serbia, about 47 percent of the adult population has received the vaccine - about 38 percent both doses.
Israel relaxed restrictions at 56 percent
When journalists asked how long it takes to complete the job with vaccination, she referred to Israel's experiences, and said that restrictions were relaxed there when they had about 56 percent of the population fully vaccinated, and that she would feel calmer with that figure.
"That is the first goal we have set before ourselves. I would like everyone who can to get vaccinated. It's a question of basic civic duty and responsibility. The goal is to vaccinate more than 50 percent of the total adult population with at least the first dose by June 21," said the prime minister.
Among the cities that have more than 50 percent of residents vaccinated are Belgrade, Priboj, Nis, Uzice, Mali Zvornik, Bosilegrad, Kikinda, Novi Sad, Sremska Mitrovica, Kladovo, Kursumlija...
