Firearms, axes and knives in Novi Pazar streets: Clashes happen due to lack of fear of punishment?
Showdowns in broad daylight in Novi Pazar are happening because of problems with the mentality, while among some people there is also the lack of fear of sanctions, security expert Aleksandar Ivanovic told the Uranak K1 television today.
After last week's clash with firearms and axes, and yesterday's incident that involved the use of a knife in this town, Ivanovic assessed that residents of Novi Pazar feel an increased degree of danger to life, body and property, especially in central parts of Novi Pazar.
"Such events make citizens feel less safe," he said.
Ivanovic stressed that many institutions and the society as a whole should work on changing the mentality of citizens and the social climate in order to live with more tolerance.
He added that citizens, schools, local self-government and centers for social welfare should work on changing the mentality, while, he believes, there should be more reporting about the sentences pronounced after such incidents.
