Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic posted today on his official Instagram account Buducnostsrbijeav to say that the average salary in March was 555 euros.

"I have good news for all people in Serbia - the average salary in March was exactly 555 euros. That is what we were waiting for," Vucic said in a video.

As he further stated, "March is known to be the reference month, and according to preliminary data, the salary in March was 555 euros, compared to 330 euros at the time when I became prime minister - a huge progress for Serbia."

"You are to be credited for that, and above all you are to be credited for Serbia no longer being a country of losers, but of winners, which can compete anywhere and beat those who have been ahead of us, not for decades, but for centuries," said Vucic.

His message was that "we must work, work hard and fight, in order to raise salaries to more than 600 euros before the end of the year. I am convinced that together, united, we can do that," he added.

Deputy Belgrade Mayor Goran Vesic also spoke today to say that in the past seven years the budget of the City of Belgrade has been increased from about 600 million euros to more than 1.2 billion. He added that Belgrade accounts for 40% of Serbia's GDP.

"The financial consolidation that we have implemented has enabled the growth and development of our city unseen in recent history. Investments in our city have led to almost 200,000 new jobs created in Belgrade, while the average salary is over 700 euros," Vesic concluded.
