According to epidemiologist and member of the Crisis HQ Predrag Kon, a date has not yet been set after which larger gatherings such as festivals and parties could be allowed, and that June 21, the day announced for that, was "imposed by the event industry" and can be moved according to the epidemiological situation.

"It's necessary for 50 percent of the population to receive both doses of the vaccine and to for at least two weeks to pass after the second dose," Kon told the daily Danas.

As he added, Belgrade is a city that will probably reach that goal by June 21, while, however, for he "cannot claim the same" regarding other parts of the country.

"The activity of the virus is extremely important. If it started to increase, that date would have to be moved," Kon stressed and added that the current epidemiological situation is solid.

According to data presented yesterday by Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic, 47.2 percent of adults in this city have received the first dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while both doses have been administered to 38.2 percent of those older than 18. At the level of the whole of Serbia, vaccination coverage is lower - until Saturday last week 2.26 million first and 1.73 million second doses were received by citizens.
