Stevanovic: Covid situation improving, but not over. There's examples of what happens when we relax

Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar today held a meeting with directors of Covid hospitals in the Palace of Serbia, after which Professor Dr. Goran Stevanovic, director of the Clinic for Infectious and Tropical Diseases of the University Clinical Center of Serbia, addressed the media, stating that the situation is better and that for that reason some health facilities are exiting the Covid system.

"Thanks to the results we have, the number of new patients is significantly declining, and this has enabled us to get some Covid hospitals out of the Covid system, i.e. to be paying great attention to patients who do not have Covid and who have suffered so far."

"As a direct result of that, KBC (Clinical Hospital Center) Zvezdara no longer has Covid patients, at the beginning of next week, KBC Dragisa Misovic will not, and the hospital in Mladenovac is in preparation. This speaks in favor of the situation calming down quite a bit. It depends on us and the number of vaccinated people how the situation will develop going forward. We have examples of what happens in other countries when people relax. The WHO is warning us to be careful about all that, we are far from the end," said Stevanovic.

"For now, we have enough vaccines provided and every citizen who wants to, can be vaccinated," said Stevanovic and recalled the continuous arrival of more vaccines from all manufacturers.

All foreign citizens who have received the vaccine here, if they applied through the eGovernment (eUprava) portal - will receive an invitation and will be able to be (re)vaccinated.
