Assistant Minister of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue Boris Milicevic, who is known to the public as an LGBT activist and the first openly gay man in the Serbian Assembly, was attacked last night in New Belgrade.

As he stated, an unknown man chased him in order to stab him with a knife. The perpetrator was arrested very quickly.

Milicevic posted a police report from last night on Twitter, describing in detail the attack that happened at 9:30 pm. He explained that the man threw an object at him, and then threatened that he would slit his throat, adding that he was running away from the attacker. As Boris told the police, when he asked for help from passers-by, they ran away, and the attacker continued to run after him. He also described what the attacker looked like.

"The male person who attacked me was 60 years old, 185 to 190 centimeters tall, thin, hunched over, with a longer beard, greasy hair and in worn out clothes. I can say that the knife had a black handle and the total length of the knife was about 20 centimeters," the report posted on Twitter reads.

The police confirmed that they went to the scene and that the attacker was arrested, as well as that he has been detained for up to 48 hours.
