Petkovic on Croatian military camp in Kosovo: Collective memories of 1941 awaken among Serb people

Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic said last night that the possibče setting up of a Croatian military camp in Kosovo and Metohija would violate UN Security Council Resolution 1244, the principle of good neighborly relations between Serbia and Croatia, and endanger security of the Serb people in the southern province.

Petkovic assessed for TV Pink that Thursday's announcements by the Croatian minister of foreign affairs awakened collective memories of 1941 among the Serb people, but also of the 1990s and all the terrible suffering of Serbs precisely at the hands of Croats and Croatian soldiers, reports Tanjug.

He called for peace and stressed that if someone is trying to build peace by threatening the state of Serbia and announcing the opening of some military bases in Serbia, they are, among other things, endangering security of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija, who feel unsafe.

He stressed that the Serb people feel even more unsafe because all this is happening on the day when the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica was signing a contract with the so-called Kosovo army on handing over the hill Crnusa in order to form a military base of that so-called army.

"Resolution 1244 is being violated, the principle of good neighborly relations between Serbia and Croatia is being violated and the security of the Serb people in the area of ​​Kosovo and Metohija is being endangered. These are serious provocations, serious attacks that we will not remain silent to," said the director of the Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
