How Novak Djokovic's appearance changed during his 18-year career: One look was crazy!
This year, Novak Djokovic celebrated "coming of age" on the ATP list, since he first entered the world of professional tennis exactly 18 years ago, playing his first pro tournaments and officially appearing in ATP rankings.
18 years later, Novak is the absolute record holder on that list when it comes to the number of weeks spent in the top spot, and that number will only continue to grow. He is currently at 318 weeks, while Federer, who previously held the record, stopped at 310.
We recently reported (in Serbian) that during the past 15 years, Novak has had his life companion, Jelena Djokovic, by his side, with whom he first appeared in public in 2006 in Amersfoort, when he won the first ATP tournament of his career. Jelena also changed during those 15 years, sporting a different look and living a different lifestyle in the beginning, while she is now dedicated to a healthy diet, environmental protection, and rarely wears make-up while appearing in public.
Novak also has different habits and views on life now that he is more mature, he also eats a healthy, exclusively plant-based diet, is dedicated to nature, but also pays a lot of attention to the spiritual side of things, so he visits many shrines and mystical places like the pyramids in Visoko where he plans to go ahead of this year's French Open.
Novak last week participated in the Serbia Open tournament in Belgrade and will play in Serbia again in a few weeks, when the second Serbia Open will be organized as preparation for the French Open.
We've "dug up" many of Novak's old photos from the beginning of his career, to see how his appearance changed from year to year, with a few unusual photos where he looks the way people are not used to seeing him, because he sometimes wears glasses off the court. His shaved head look was especially striking.
However, one thing is constant with Djokovic: you can always see that winning character and zeal in his eyes, which have not left him since he first took up a tennis racket.
