A 9-year-old child from Vranje died from coronavirus
Patient D.P. (9) from Vranje, who was admitted to the Clinic for Children's Internal Diseases of the University Clinical Center Nis on April 8, died last night from bilateral pneumonia and confirmed coronavirus infection, the Clinical Center in Nis has announced.
On the seventh day after admission to the Clinic for Children's Internal Diseases, the patient was connected to a ventilator and received blood derivatives and plasma convalescents several times. Due to acute clinical deterioration, he was reintubated on April 25.
"During the night of April 26, 2021 there was a sharp drop in saturation and the heart frequency. All resuscitation measures were applied, but unfortunately the patient did not react to them. The patient had several serious associated diseases that endangered his health even before the coronavirus infection, and which additionally aggravated the infection itself and contributed to the final outcome," the University Clinical Center in Nis said in a statement.
A baby from Kragujevac passed away seven days ago, who was also infected with coronavirus, experienced a cytokine storm and developed symptoms as an adult. The infant was transferred to the University Children's Clinic in Tirsova Street in Belgrade, but passed away despite the doctors' best efforts.
