Horrific car accident near Nova Gradiska: Man speeds, films it, lands in canal and dies
A 31-year-old driver died in a horrible traffic accident on Sunday at around 1 pm in Zapolje near Nova Gradiska, Croatia. The man, who didn't have a driver's license, and his car landed in a canal while he was speeding and using his mobile phone, the Brod-Posava police announced after completing their investigation.
The investigation established that the victim was driving the car before acquiring the right to operate a motor vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt, and was using a mobile phone while driving.
Due to unadjusted speed on a wet road, he lost control, drove off the road onto the grass and landed in a drainage canal.
He fell out of the car and died on the spot
The car then hit a concrete wall and a wooden pole, and then metal poles in a yard fence, after which it flipped over several times, hitting three fruit trees.

As the vehicle crashed into the public lighting pole, metal conductors broke and electricity supply was interrupted.
During the investigation, the police closed the district road in Zapolje and diverted traffic.
The police have issued a misdemeanor complaint against the owner of the car for giving it to a person who had no license, which is a violation of the Law on Road Traffic Safety.

Residents from Zapolje commented on social networks that the driver was speeding through the town in a Mercedes, driving at over 180 kilometers per hour, writes the portal Danica.
After that, a video of a livestream allegedly filmed by the driver during the accident appeared on social networks.
