Pristina won't allow Petkovic to visit Kosovo and Metohija, the Office reacted early this morning
Representatives of the provisional institutions in Pristina responded negatively last night to the announced visit to the province of the director of the Office of the Government of Serbia for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic. He was to visit today and tomorrow and speak with the Serbs there, the Office said.
A statement assesses that it is obvious that the new government in Pristina will use any possible excuse, including the coronavirus situation, to impose anti-Serb policies of barriers and bans.
"Pristina's excuses and reference to the epidemiological situation in Kosovo and Metohija are absurd, because Pristina did not think about the pandemic when we wanted to vaccinate citizens from Kosovo and Metohija or when Belgrade had the best intention to donate a certain number of vaccines to Pristina. Instead they think about Covid in Pristina when they want to ban visits," stressed the statement.
The Office points out that this is a flagrant violation of the agreements reached in Brussels, especially those that regulate freedom of movement, but also a clear message to Belgrade that it doesn't have a sincere interlocutor for dialogue and future-oriented policies in leaders in Pristina, on the contrary - they espouse backward attitudes that nullify any thought of reaching an agreement and compromise.
This is supported by the fact that on the eve of the 8th anniversary of the Brussels Agreement, Pristina continues to brutally violate all agreements, from the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities to the agreements regarding freedom of movement.
At a time when incidents are intensifying in Serb communities in Kosovo and Metohija, Petkovic wanted to speak to the Serb people about assistance from the state, but also to calm tensions and ask them not to fall for the almost daily provocations. But Pristina obviously has no interest in calming down the situation and instead continues to fuel tensions, stressed the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
