Crisis HQ meeting ends: These are the new measures
The meeting of the Crisis HQ, during which the current epidemiological situation was analyzed, has ended, and the decisions that were made were announced by epidemiologist Predrag Kon.
"I think that the epidemiological situation has come out of the emergency. We still have a large number of patients in hospitals, but the number of discharges has increased and hospitals are slowly emptying. The decision has been made that senior grades of primary and secondary school students will return to schols on April 19," said Kon.
"On the other hand, in support of tourism, the price of PCR testing has been made the same for our citizens and foreigners. Until now, foreigners had to pay 18,000 dinars, and from now on, the price for everyone will be 9,000 dinars, as it has been for the citizens of Serbia so far. A decision has also been made regarding the Belgrade Marathon so that preparations can begin for the competitive part, and we will see about the rest. It depends on situation. There are no other measures."
"We have a holiday around (Orthodox) Easter again starting on April 30, so the virus does not have time to rise in such a short time. We must have about 3.5 million immunized people in order to be like Israel, and we are far from that," Kon added.
Measures for Easter
"There were no discussions about measures for the holidays, nor do I expect that we will talk about it. Everyone will be urged to avoid contact. It's clear that it must be safe and with very strict use of protection measures. But we won't talk about it publicly."
As for the full reopening of cafes and restaurants, Dr. Kon said:
"There was discussion, but no decision was made. If the question is when, it depends on the situation and the point of view. We do not have the same views on this issue, and there will probably be discussions and exchanges of opinions on that yet."
Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar said on Wednesday that the epidemiological situation was better than 10 days prior, which is encouraging, but that we must not relax.
Epidemiologist and member of the Crisis HQ, Dr. Predrag Kon, said on Thursday that the number of new coronavirus cases has been decreasing lately, but not as fast as before.
He also stated that it depends on us how fast the number of new cases will fall, and that then there will automatically be a greater relaxing of measures.
He pointed out that the goal is to reach 3 or 3.5 million people who have received both doses of the coronavirus vaccine as soon as possible, and that the number of those who have received the second dose so far has exceeded 1.2 million.
