Greek ambassador speaks about Kosovo: "Our position remains unchanged"

Greece's position not to recognize Kosovo's independence is well known and remains unchanged, Greek Ambassador to Serbia Yorgos Diacofotakis has told Tanjug.

This was his way of commenting on expectations of US foreign policy analysts David Phillips and Daniel Serwer that Greece will change its position and probably recognize Kosovo.

"In principle, we do not comment on the opinions of analysts, the Greek position on non-recognition of Kosovo is well known and remains unchanged," said a written reply by Diacofotakis, which was sent to Tanjug by his press service.

Phillips and Serwer told Kosovo and Metohija based RTV Dukagjini that they do not expect the five European Union countries that have not recognized Kosovo to change their positions, except for Greece.

"Greece will most likely recognize Kosovo. The wall created by the fact that five countries did not recognize Kosovo will soon start collapsing, when Greece or some other country decides to recognize Kosovo," said Phillips.

Phillips and Serwer also believe that the positions of the five EU member countries are yet be seen after the end of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
