New shipment of Pfizer vaccines arrives in Serbia: Another 106,000 doses delivered

A new shipment of the Pfizer-BionTech vaccines arrived in Serbia today, the Ministry of Health said. Another 106,470 doses of this coronavirus vaccine have been delivered to the Torlak Institute in Belgrade.

Serbia leads the way in Europe in terms of the number of people who have received a second dose of the vaccine, which shows the agility and the results of our immunization process, the director of the Office for Information Technology and Electronic Administration, Mihailo Jovanovic, pointed out today.

"We expect the three millionth vaccine to be administered this week," said Jovanovic.

He stressed that 1.17 million people in Serbia have received a second dose, while more than 950,000 have beeen immunized, i.e. it has been three weeks since their second dose, or five weeks in the case of those getting the AstraZeneca jab.

Jovanovic stressed that the interest of citizens is not waning and that between 10,000 and 20,000 new applications arrive every day via the eUprava (eGovernment) portal, while there is also great interest at vaccination points where people can show up without first making an appointment, which amounts to an additional 20,000 to 30,000 vaccinations per day.

He recalled that a record in daily vaccinations was broken on Wednesday, when the number exceeded 80,000.

When it comes to foreign citizens, both those who are residents and those who don't have that status in Serbia, 39,000 have been vaccinated so far, which is about two percent of the total number of inoculated people.

As of yesterday, 530,507 citizens have been vaccinated in Belgrade, which amounts to 37.7 percent of the adult population, Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic said.

Vesic added that 356,768 Belgraders have also received a second dose, which amounts to 25.4 percent of the adult population.
