The provisional institutions in Pristina have so far spent almost half a million euros on the defense of four former leaders of the so-called KLA who are being tried in The Hague, the Ministry of Justice of the Pristina authorities has announced.

As specified, 464,600 euros have been approved based on four requests from the defense attorneys of the accused before the Specialist Chambers, reports the Ekonomija online portal.

The Specialist Chambers in The Hague have raised indictments against former leaders of the so-called KLA, Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Salih Mustafa and Jakup Krasniqi.

All four former heads of the terrorist KLA have been charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity that took place in 40 locations where people were illegally detained, tortured and killed. The defendants face life in prison if found guilty.

The indictment alleges that the crimes they have been charged with were committed between March 1998 and September 1999 in at the latest in several towns in Kosovo, as well as in Kukes and Cahan in northern Albania.

According to the indictment, these acts were committed by members of the KLA subordinate to the defendants, on their orders, against hundreds of civilians, Serbs, Albanians, Roma... including persons who were not active participants in the hostilities.

The indictment alleges that Thaci, Veseli, Selimi and Krasniqi bear individual criminal responsibility for crimes committed in the context of the non-international armed conflict in Kosovo, which were part of widespread and systematic attacks on persons suspected of being against the terrorist KLA.
