A new type of vaccination of citizens starts today. In addition to registering through the eUprava (eGovernment) portal and a call center, all local governments are starting to organize free locations where citizens can come without registration, said the director of the Government Office for eGovernment, Mihailo Jovanovic.

Jovanovic told RTS that vaccination at checkpoints without previous application will depend on local self-governments and called on them to inform citizens in the right way about how it will be implemented.

He added that these checkpoints will mostly be set up near healthcare centers, but also that there will be many mobile teams.

Jovanovic specified that vaccination without registration will not be possible at large, mass checkpoints, in order to avoid creating crowds.

Sinopharm and AstraZeneca vaccines will be available in the places where citizens can come without registration, because they are the easiest to handle and allow teams to go to the field, he added.

Jovanovic pointed out that in this way, all citizens are invited to be vaccinated.

As he stressed, the effects of vaccination can be seen and it is measured at the level of each local self-government. In those places where vaccination went better and where local governments have been more active, better results in the fight against coronavirus are visible, said the director of the Office for eGovernment.

"Now we are shifting to fifth gear and our ambition is to do another 500,000 vaccinations by the end of the month," stated Jovanovic.

He believes that it is important for local governments to be strongly involved in the vaccination campaign.

He also says that the majority of citizens still want any of the vaccines that has been approved and that this is the right choice.

"Vaccines should not be separated. It's important that we get vaccinated as soon as possible," he said.

Speaking about the vaccination of foreigners in Serbia, Jovanovic said that 39,000 citizens of other countries have been vaccinated so far.
