Former president of Yugoslavia Slobodan Milosevic was met by two guards in the prison's reception area, and after the regular procedure of handing over his personal belongings, he was given bedding and a dish for food and escorted to his cell.

Milosevic was in a solitary confinement cell that was 3 meters long and 2,2 meters wide. His cell was in one of the two blocks of solitary confinement which had been remodeled and repainted just before the arrest of former RTS director Dragoljub Milanovic, in February of the same year.

The floor of the solitary confinement was covered with linoleum, and neon lights were installed on the ceiling, which go out in the entire prison at 10 pm, and are switched back on at six o'clock in the morning.

There was a bed, a table attached to the floor, a chair and a military-like chest in the solitary confinement cell, where the detainee kept his clothes, hygiene and other items.

In addition to the scarce furniture, the former head of state also had a squat toilet at this disposal. Above was a faucet with cold water and a water tank with a small rope protruding from it.

There was a heavy blue metal door on the cell where Milosevic was kept, and a small window on it.

As an interlocutor from Belgrade's Central Prison told Novosti at the time, Milosevic, like other prisoners, received a canister of hot water, and bathed once a week.

The former president did not have any privileges when it came to his walks either, while in prison. He was allowed to take walks alone, once a day, for 30 minutes, accompanied by a guard.
