Vucic and Chinese defense minister attend demonstration of capabilities of Serbian Army units
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic attended today the demonstration of capabilities of a part of the units of the Serbian Army in the Dedinje barracks, along with Minister of Defense of the People's Republic of China Wei Fenghe.
Members of the Serbian Army Guards Unit first demonstrated their capabilities to perform an honorary artillery salvo, followed by a motorcade of older generation vehicles.
Among them was a Mercedes Pullman 600, which was put in service in 1965, after which the president of the former Yugoslavia drove in it on a number of official occasions, while the vehicle is today kept by the Serbian Guards.
Next, members of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade performed a demonstration of martial arts, and then urban environment climbing techniques.
A detachment of the Military Police and the Cobra Units presented their abilities - in the scenario of acting against terrorists who had hijacked a vehicle.
Minister Stefanovic and General Wei Fenghe lay wreaths
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Dr. Nebojsa Stefanovic and State Councilor and Minister of National Defense of the People's Republic of China General Wei Fenghe today laid wreaths at a memorial in front of the former building of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade, that was attacked in 1999 during the NATO aggression.
On that occasion, the victims were honored with a minute of silence.
During the NATO bombing, on May 7, 1999, the embassy was hit with three missiles. Guangming Daily correspondents Xu Xinghu and Zhu Ying and Xinhua journalist Shao Yunhuan were killed, while 20 other people got injured.
The laying of wreaths and the paying of respects in front of the former building of the Chinese Embassy was also attended by Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Belgrade Chen Bo.
