"We have huge lithium deposits, that's a fortune, but project will fail unless norms are respected"
"The state will not take a single step in the realization of the Jadar project, without respecting environmental protection procedures, no matter how important this project is," Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic said today in Loznica.
During her visit to this town, she spoke with Mayor Vidoje Petrovic and the head of the Macva District Vladan Krasavac about the future jadarite mine and continued construction of an electricity grid designed to serve the needs of the population and future investors.
"The Jadar project was the most important item on the agenda of the meeting, because it will impact the whole of Europe. 10 percent of the world's lithium deposits are located here, and that is a great wealth, but nothing will be done unless each decision and procedure in the field of environmental protection is respected," Minister Mihajlovic said after the meeting.
She announced the forming of a team made up of representatives of the Ministry and local self-government, which will consider all issues related to this project on a daily basis, with the goal of informing citizens about everything and preventing the spread of untruths and half-truths.
