What will the weekend be like: These are possible measures, will it look like March 15, 2020?

A meeting of the Crisis HQ for the fight against coronavirus will be held tomorrow starting at 11 am, and this body' members will begin by reviewing the epidemiological situation and data that is not at all nice to look at - more than 4,000 hospitalized people, more than 200 patients breathing through ventilators, a drastic number of first examinations, more than 4,000 new cases per day and a persistent double-digit daily death toll.

Although a new lockdown in Serbia is constantly mentioned, there is every chance that we will not welcome Monday, March 15 - the day when a state of emergency was introduced in 2020, along with a curfew - the same way this year as well.

A source from the Serbian government told Telegraf.rs that it is certainly not an option for people to be locked in their apartments, and that another reduction of the opening hours is now on on the table.

"A complete closure during the weekend is also mentioned, but that is very uncertain for now," says our source from the government.

A Telegraf.rs source from the Crisis HQ also said that there will certainly be no lockdown, that is, that there is no chance of a vote in favor of a curfew, and they also note that the medical part of the HQ did not ask for that in the first place.

This source revealed that it is realistict to expect that the upcoming weekend will be the same as the previous one, while it could happen that hospitality establishments and shopping centers may close much earlier rather than at noon, as was the case last Saturday.

"Considering that the session starts at 11 am, we can hope that these facilities will not be open at all on Saturday, as well as on Sunday, and that their opening hours will be shortened starting on Monday," said our source.

They added that the epidemiological situation has very much deteriorated, and that the British strain, which is spreading among children, is a cause for concern. However, despite that, closing kindergartens is still not being considered, nor is switching lower grades in schools to online classes.

Yesterday, Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic announced that stricter measures await us. She explained that the meeting was postponed because she wanted all measures to be discussed and not just at the Crisis HQ.

"Let's just make a decision at the Crisis HQ that was agreed on earlier and see how to do it all logistically," she said.

In the end, everything will be known tomorrow.
