Red Star FC make progress in UEFA rankings after draw against Milan, red-and-whites close to Top 50!
In UEFA's new ranking list, the Red Star Belgrade football club has moved up one place and is now 51st.
The red-and-whites overtook Lokomotiv Moscow and are now close to the top 50 after a 2-2 draw against Milan in Belgrade last night. It's interesting to note that the Italian side is a few places below the Serbian champion.
Depending on what the team from Ljutice Bogdana Street does against the Italian club in the second leg, they could make additional progress, but now a very difficult job is ahead of coach Dejan Stankovic's team, which needs an away victory or another 2-2 draw in regular time for a chance to advance in Europa League.
If the second leg ends in a 2-2- draw, that would lead to overtime and possibly a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner.
Red Star footballers played an extremely exciting game (2-2; first half ended in 0-1) against Milan, in the first game of Europa League's Round of 32. The Serbian champions played the last ten minutes with ten men on the pitch, after a Red Star player got sent off, while the hero was Milan Pavkov - who scored the equalizer in the 93rd minute.
