Spectacular fireworks display marks start of Chinese Lantern Festival in Belgrade and Novi Sad
The traditional Chinese Lantern Festival opened last night with spectacular fireworks in Belgrade on the Sava Promenade, in front of the Galerija Belgrade shopping mall, and in Novi Sad's Liman Park.
The festival will last until February 25, while visitors must respect all epidemiological measures.
Admission is free in both cities, and lanterns will be lit every day at 5 pm.
The initiator and founder of the festival is musician Slobodan Trkulja, who has been enjoying great popularity in China for a long time and is working on fostering cultural exchange between our two countries, writes Tanjug.
Recently, he and the Balkanopolis band participated in the Chinese New Year's programs, in the Spring Festival of Chinese Culture, which was broadcast in 36 countries on 5 continents and watched by a billion people.
Organized by the "Chinese Festival of Lights" with the support of the Government of Serbia, the City of Belgrade and the City of Novi Sad, the third edition of the festival is now held in Serbia, with an attractive installation of Chinese lanterns to officially celebrate Chinese New Year in Serbia.
"I am happy that we managed to organize the festival even in these difficult times and show the magic of lanterns that are interesting to people of all ages," Trkulja said recently, announcing the festival.
The light spectacle was created by one of the world's leading companies manufacturing art lanterns, based in Zigong, and their light installations will introduce the audience into the wonderful world of imagination and light, which will be equally interesting for the youngest and the oldest.
