Acting head of the Service for the Fight against Organized Crime (SBPOK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ninoslav Cmolic said today that the police will continue their work on collecting evidence against the organized criminal group led by Veljko Belivuk, but also all other criminal groups that endanger the safety of citizens.

"All those arrested in yesterday's operation have been brought to the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, and further work, searches at other locations, arrest of more people will follow, and in addition to this, we will continue with new operations and prove that no one is stronger than the state. We are ready to do everything to protect the safety of citizens," Cmolic told Pink TV.

According to him, yesterday's operation of arresting 19 people suspected of committing several serious crimes - drug trafficking, extortion, blackmail, murder and mutilation of people as members of an organized criminal group - was planned in cooperation with the Security Information Agency (BIA) and the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime for a while.

"Our goal was to collect valid material evidence in order to remove the persons who were arrested yesterday from the streets for a longer period of time. We are working to prove the role of each individual within the organized criminal group, to collect as much material evidence as possible, to facilitate the work of the prosecution and to provide enough evidence so that verdicts are not overturned in court," said Cmolic.

According to him, this criminal group, led by Belivuk and another suspect, Marko Miljkovic, was well organized and hid behind a faction of Partizan football club supporters whose leader was Belivuk, who was previously known to the police.

Cmolic stressed that this is not about fans but about criminals and added that during the searches in several locations in Serbia - some of which were the premises at the Partizan stadium given to this group for use - the police found narcotics, weapons, as well as material and biological traces important for further investigations.

The acting head of SBPOK pointed out that in the fight against organized criminal groups, the police have the full support of the Government and President of the Republic Aleksandar Vucic, "without which we would not be able to push all this through and send a message that no one is stronger than the state, and make the arrests."
