Dr. Djerlek's optimistic forecast: Serbia is very close to beating coronavirus
State Secretary at the Ministry of Health Mirsad Djerlek said today that Serbia is "very close to beating coronavirus", which, as he says, will be contributed to by producing the vaccine in Serbia, which will start with the help of Russian experts whose arrival is expected on February 11.
"This country deserves to have a place that will produce something like that. Torlak (Institute) has experts who can produce something like this. By producing the vaccine against coronavirus, we will return Torlak to the place it once had. Professional people work in that institute, only the issue of technical and technological matters needs to be resolved. Serbia will be one of the few countries that will produce such a vaccine," Djerlek told TV Pink.
When asked if it is safe for people who have coronavirus to be vaccinated, he says that it has happened, but that these have been asymptomatic cases.
"These people should know that there's no harm from vaccination. It's important to finish the treatment, and after 28 days, after the cessation of all symptoms of the virus, you should be revaccinated," said Djerlek, noting that contribution should be made to reducing coronavirus virus to level of the seasonal flu.
He also said that the goal is to establish control over the coronavirus epidemic.
"We tried to organize vaccination well. We wanted to show the world that we know how to work," said Djerlek, commenting on the mass vaccination in Serbia, and added that the healthcare care system is ready for continued fight against coronavirus.
