The press conference of the Crisis HQ, set up to protect the health of the population of the Republic of Serbia from the infectious disease Covid-19, was held on Friday at the Palace of Serbia.

As stated after this morning's meeting, the anti-epidemic measures will not be scrapped for now. Such a decision was made based on the frequency of coronavirus infections, bearing in mind that, although the situation is more stable, the numbers are still high. It is not known until when the measures will remain in force, because it is not known what the epidemiological situation will be like in the coming days. The measure mandating that travelers coming from Hungary must produce a negative PCR test when entering Serbia has not been abolished either.

According to Dr. Edita Stokic, director of the Clinical Center (KC) Vojvodina, 426,615 people have been vaccinated so far, 22,394 today alone by 3 pm. According to her, the influx of patients to the Covid clinic in KC Vojvodina is still large. Out of the seven intensive care units, two units continue to work. KC Vojvodina is moving to a non-Covid system of work, said Edita Stokic. The response of healthcare workers to vaccination has been solid, she said, while the final number will be known when the second and third cycles have been completed.

There are currently 118 Covid patients treated at KC Vojvodina, of whom seven are connected to mechanical ventilation devices.

As she stated, type 1 and type 2 diabetes patients are three times more at risk of developing a more serious form of Covid, even with a fatal outcome. Vaccination is one of the safest options, it is a safe therapeutic tool. The side effects from the vaccine have been mild and related mainly to pain in the arm. It's important that diabetes patients to monitor their blood sugar level for a day or two (after getting vaccinated).

No position on allowing fans to attend Red Star v Milan game

No position has been taken on that issue, Dr. Stokic said when asked by journalists whether the fans will be allowed inside the stadium for the match.

Even if someone has been vaccinated, they must not relax when it comes to protective measures, said Dr. Stokic. Until the immunization cycle itself is over, there can be no relaxing. Out of over 1,000 people vaccinated in KC Vojvodina, one, a nurse, experienced a side effect, an allergic reaction.

According to her, there are several factors that led to such a large number of vaccinated people and such a response. This number opens the possibility that this scourge will soon subside, she said. According to her, there are no patients with the new strain of coronavirus treated at KC Vojvodina.

Situation on Friday

According to the latest data another 1,717 people have been infected with coronavirus in Serbia in the past 24 hours. 18 more patients have died in that time. 11,160 more people were tested in the same period of time, while 4,119 are now hospitalized. There are currently 158 patients on ventilators.

Since the beginning of the epidemic in Serbia, 2,600,004 people have been tested, 392,354 of whom were positive, while 3,983 people died from Covid.

Today, the Crisis HQ also made a decision to allow residents in gerontological centers, who have undergone complete vaccination, to receive visits in controlled conditions, while respecting all epidemiological measures.
