Serbia's breathtaking waterfall: A visit to this natural monument is worth every penny
On the slopes of one of the largest limestone mountains in Serbia, on the Vrelo River - symbolically also known as "Godina" (Serbian for "Year") because of its length of 365 meters - there is a waterfall, which leaves many visitors breathless.
Beljanica Mountain boasts the Lisine waterfall, that is also known as Veliki Buk.
This waterfall is located within the Natural Monument Lisine Waterfall and is under protection of competent institutions, while the decision on fees for the use of protected areas Resava Cave and Lisine states that admission is charged, according to the price of the services' manager.
It held the record for a long time
Until the discovery of the waterfalls located on Stara Mountain during the 1990s, Veliki Buk was considered to be the tallest waterfall in our entire country.
Formed through accumulation of limestone, this waterfall has a height of 25 meters.
Ever since 1995, this area has been marked as a significant part of Serbia's geological heritage and has been placed under the protection of competent institutions.
This waterfall is about a 10 minute drive away from the Resava Cave. The waterfall is most interesting in the spring, when it is extremely rich in water, although a visit to Lisine is of interest during the rest of the year as well.
