Selakovic: Sergei Lavrov's visit confirmed traditionally good relations between Serbia and Russia
Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic said that the visit by his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov was not technocratic, but a friendly one which confirmed the traditionally good relations between Serbia and Russia.
"It was not an ordinary meeting of two ministers or a minister and a president. It was a friendly tone. If there is a completely friendly tone with any of the big ones, it is with Russia and China. Of course, the goals of our foreign policy are European integration, European future and a different relationship with Western countries with which we are raising the level of cooperation, but with Russia it's a continuity that has lasted for decades," said Selakovic.
He told TV Pink that a particularly solemn and touching ceremony was that of bringing the eternal flame from the Tomb of the Unknown Hero from Moscow to the Cemetery of the Liberators of Belgrade.
As he says, Lavrov was amazed by the appearance of the Temple of Saint Sava in Vracar, Belgrade, while Putin's letter, which he read in the Temple, speaks of the importance that Russia attaches to our cooperation.
