The payment of another minimum wage in the amount of 30,367 dinars for workers in tourism and the hospitality industry starts today, the Ministry of Finance has confirmed.

It is about sector support in the amount of two billion dinars, which will be paid from the national budget to 72,500 workers employed by travel agencies, rent-a-car companies, hospitality establishments, and hotels.

Earlier, Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali said that this additional financial support would make a difference for workers in this sector, who are the hardest-hit by the coronavirus pandemic. He recalled that this is the sixth minimum wage that workers in these sectors are receiving in Serbia, which means that the state has covered half the business year for these companies with the payment of wages.

The minister pointed out that the Tax Administration published a list of 12,037 companies that are eligible to receive state assistance.

The list includes companies in the field of hospitality and tourism.

The money will be paid to the companies via special purpose accounts opened by the Treasury Administration.

The minister said that the procedure for payment has been simplified, so now a person authorized person by a business entity is required to come to the competent branch of the Treasury Administration only once. He recalled that previously subsidies to hoteliers in the amount of 350 euros per bed and 150 euros per accommodation unit had been paid, for which 1.2 billion dinars had been set aside.

Mali remarked that the state's total allocations since the beginning of the year, aimed at supporting the economy, will reach six billion euros, or about 700 billion dinars, and that this is one of the largest support packages in the region.

As has been confirmed for Telegraf Biznis, economic entities that are now taking an additional minimum wage from the state must not lay off more than 10 percent of their workforce from the day the decree entered into force, through January 31, 2021.
