World Cup draws Serbia with so-called Kosovo! Disputed team immediately moved with Greece and Spain
The national football team of Serbia learned who its opponents will be in Group A of the qualifications for the World Cup, to be held in Qatar in 2022. One rival briefly unpleasantly surprised it.
Namely, the team of so-called Kosovo was drawn from the fifth pot to Serbia's group, during the FIFA draw held in Switzerland.
Therefore, Serbia and the politically disputed territory of Kosovo, that passes itself off as a state, but is not that under international law, could not play each other.
Bad relations between Serbians and Albanians would be too much of a risk, therefore so-called Kosovo was moved to Group B, with Spain, Sweden, Greece and Georgia.
Instead of so-called Kosovo, Azerbaijan was put in Group A, after being drawn next from the fifth pot.
Group A, meanwhile, in addition to Serbia and Azerbaijan, includes national teams of Portugal, the Republic of Ireland and Luxembourg.
The first matches should be played on March 24 or 25, while the qualifying cycle ends in November.
