In recent days, there has been a debate in Serbia about where popular folk singer Dzej Ramadanovski should be buried. His daughter Marija has just confirmed for the Telegraf that the singer will rest in the Alley of Distinguished Citizens at the New Cemetery in Belgrade. There will be no commemoration due to the pandemic, while the funeral will be held on December 11 at 2:30 pm.

Support for this solution has been provided by a Romani organization, the Civic Movement Opre Roma Serbia, as well as by Goran Vesic, the deputy mayor of Belgrade.

"This honor is earned with a successful professional career, scientific work, but also artistic work. During his life, Dzej became someone whose songs were listened to even by those who didn't like that genre of music. He was the good spirit of Belgrade, he was not perfect like none of us are, but he was a charmer. Simply, Dzej," Vesic told TV Happy's morning program, the Secretariat for Information announced, and added:

"How great he was is best seen in the feeling we all had when we found out he had died. Both those of us who knew him personally, and those who knew him only through his songs. We felt like we lost a family member."

The Alley of Distinguished Citizens is confused by many with the Alley of the Greats, but these are separate plots at the New Cemetery, which are located next to each other.

Many historical figures, people's heroes, doctors, politicians, authors, journalists, professors, historians, actors, musicians, artists are buried there...
