"My dearest left me forever": Slobodanka (31) was killed when a train hit her car

Slobodanka Boba U. (31) from Banatsko Veliko Selo near Kikinda died in a serious traffic accident, which happened yesterday at a level crossing close to Bajmok, near Subotica.

The accident happened around 8 o'clock when a passenger train on the Subotica-Sombor line hit a Golf with Kikinda license plates, and after the sideways collision, the locomotive pushed the car for another 50 meters.

The railway crossing is provided with barriers and signalization, and, as Novosti writes, at the moment of the investigation, the barriers were raised. The investigation will determine whether the train driver had the white or the yellow signal, i.e. whether the signalization on the railway was functioning, as well as whether the fog was the cause of the accident.

"If the train driver had the white signal, it means that everything was in order, but if the signal was yellow, he was warned that there was a problem with the barriers, i.e. that he should slow down at the level crossing," a source close to the investigation said.

The Subotica media said yesterday that the train driver allegedly warned the authorities on Tuesday night that the control signal in Bajmok was not working, but the Serbian Railway Infrastructure could not confirm this information.

Eyewitnesses of the accident say that there was thick fog on the road, that they heard the train horn and that the scene was horrible. Police, ambulance and firefighter crews quickly arrived at the scene of the accident, and had to cut the vehicle to pull out the unfortunate woman, who was still showing signs of life. Unfortunately, she quickly succumbed to her injuries.

As Novosti found out, the family of the victim comes from Croatia, which they left as refugees. Her parents and brother are in Banatsko Veliko Selo, while she was living in Novi Sad for some time. Her fiancé is allegedly from the vicinity of Bajmok, where she was killed yesterday morning. She was working various jobs, often as a promoter of products and services. She often posted photos from the car on social networks, and it is suspected that on the fateful morning she was talking to her mother on the phone while driving.

The brother of the young woman who died said goodbye to her with moving words.

"My loved one, my everything in the world... my dearest being has left me forever. I love you, sis," her brother wrote in a message on the social network.
