Tourists from this distant country flooded Belgrade in October, even more arrivals than last year

In October, domestic tourists mostly traveled to Serbian spa - 45,634 of them (6% more than in October last year). When it comes to foreign tourists, until the current worsening of the epidemic situation, the number of overnight stays in Serbia increased slightly, thus reducing the negative percentage of total overnight stays of foreign tourists from -76% in September to -66% in October, compared to the same months last year.

Based on overnight stays, domestic tourists were most interested in spas in October, and then in mountain resorts and cities - Sokobanja, Vrnjacka Banja, Mt. Zlatibor, Belgrade and Novi Sad. Destinations that recorded more tourists in total in the first 10 months of 2020 compared to the same period last year are - Stara Mountain, Banja Vrdnik and Divcibare Mountain.

Due to the still limited travel conditions, foreign tourists realized 125,620 overnight stays in October. The highest number of overnight stays in October was by tourists from Israel - 119% more than in October last year (when they did not have to face their country's travel restrictions), followed by those coming from Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Montenegro.

Statistical data covering January until October shows that in the first ten months of this year, a total of 1,633,161 tourists stayed in the Republic of Serbia, which is 48% less than in the same priod of 2019, of which 1,235,533 were domestic (22% less than in January-October 2019) and 397,628 (75 % less) foreign.
