Covid patient from Leskovac who tried to escape from hospital and commit suicide dies
A 48-year-old patient, who escaped from the Leskovac Covid hospital five days ago and tried to kill himself, has passed away, the director of the General Hospital, Nebojsa Dimitrijevic, has confirmed.
As he said, the doctors tried everything and made superhuman efforts to treat him, but he refused any kind of cooperation.
"He was like that at the moment when he was admitted to our institution. It's interesting that there is no record of whether he suffered psychotic states before and whether he had been treated in Belgrade, where he lived and worked. We don't have such records, and the family told us that he was not registered as a psychiatric patient before," Nebojsa Dimitrijevic claims for juGmedia.
The patient was placed in the psychiatric ward, which was turned into a part of the Covid hospital, but he escaped the next day so the police found him and brought him back 12 hours later. An hour after the police left, the patient broke a mirror and cut himself in several places. However, a few hours after his wounds were sewed, the patient tore the sutures and was then sutured again.
This is not the first case of escapes from the Covid hospital happening in Leskovac. At the beginning of the epidemic, one man escaped from the Infectious Diseases Service, and the police found him at home.
One pregnant woman from Leskovac later escaped from treatment at the Nis Clinical Center, so the police also had to intervene.
