Dacic talks about Maradona: I was in his stadium box, nothing was luxurious or spectacular

President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic was a guest on TV Prva this morning, where he also touched on Diego Armando Maradona, who passed away this week!

Dacic pointed out that, unfortunately, he never met Maradona, but that during his visit to Argentina, when he opened the Boulevard of Serbia in Buenos Aires, he had the opportunity to visit the Boca Juniors stadium where he was presented with Maradona's number 10 jersey on which they wrote, "Ivica Dacic."

"Unfortunately, I never met Maradona because whenever I was there, he was not in Buenos Aires. Argentina is certainly the most European country in America, and the population is mostly of Italian origin, so that mentality makes it quite similar to our country," said Dacic and added:

"They asked me what I was interested and took me to the Boca Juniors stadium, where they gave me Maradona's jersey number 10. They wrote 'Ivica Dacic' on it and I gave them Red Star and Partizan jerseys signed by all the players. They also took me to Maradona's box, it was nothing luxurious or spectacular. He was a simple man of the people. This stadium is otherwise specific, they call it La Bombonera because it stands upright."

Dacic also pointed out that Boca is in the poor part of Buenos Aires and that everything is subordinated to Maradona.

"When you walk out, there's his monument. And it all happened while he was alive! Maradona has become a symbol not only of football but of art, a flowing game, not some industrial type of football. Unlike German football, which is a 'machine', there is Brazilian and Argentine football, which has the emotion, and that is a game in the true sense of the word," said Dacic and added that Maradona was a leftist and best friends with Fidel Castro, Chavez, Morales...
