Pelemis: Masks even in open, there'll be no one to treat us. If it gets worse, we tighten measures
Infectologist Mijomir Pelemis, former director of the Clinic for Infectious and Tropical Diseases of the Clinical Center of Serbia, said today that masks should be worn outdoors as well, and stressed that if the existing measures fail to produce results, they will be tightened.
"Masks, masks and masks. It should be an integral part of the wardrobe. Masks both indoors and outdoors. I don’t know why it’s so hard. The whole world, you see, wears masks outdoors as well. Do it. There will be no one left to treat us," Pelemis appealed to the population after a meeting of directors of Covid hospitals with Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar.
Pelemis said that he is aware that the measures that were adopted and that came into force today are difficult for some, but he also pointed out that if things get worse again, there will be new ones.
"Of course, these measures that we have brought are difficult for some. Let me tell you right away that the Crisis HQ will consider the situation on an hourly basis, and if the situation deteriorates, we will tighten the measures. Otherwise, this way, the healthcare system cannot withstand," Pelemis stressed.
