Vucic reveals latest information about condition of Patriarch Irinej
The health of the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), Patriarch Irinej is not well, he is intubated, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said this evening, during the anti-terrorist exercise "Obruc ('Hoop') 2020".
"Thank God he's alive. He was in better condition today, three hours ago, when some media reported that he had passed away. Now that situation is difficult. He was intubated 55 minutes ago," the president reported.
He said that doctors are fighting to save the patriarch's life.
"Goran Stevanovic (director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic) is in the red zone. They are trying to turn the patriarch from left to right, while he is intubated, because he could not do it before, to produce lung drainage," Vucic explained.
"It's hard to predict anything, except to pray to God, this is a great man who has indebted Serbia and the Serbian people with his deeds," said Vucic.
Earlier in the day, some media outlets reported that Patriarch Irinej had passed away.
