After yesterday's announcement made by Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic that the monument to Stefan Nemanja has reached its full height, today we can see the unveiled monument, which is in the last stages of completion.

It is the work of Russian sculptor and academician Aleksandr Rukavishnikov, located in Sava Square in Belgrade, in front of the Old Railway Station.

"Citizens can already get the sense of how nicely this monument will fit into the ambiance of the new Sava Square. Apart from its high artistic value, this monument has a huge historical and cultural significance for the Serbian people. Stefan Nemanja is the founder of the Serbian state and later of the Serbian empire," Goran Vesic wrote on Facebook.

Stefan Nemanja (1113 -1199) was the Grande Prince of Serbia (Rascia), the founder of the Nemanjic dynasty, a major national figure for his contribution to the development of the Serbian state that in the Middle Ages developed into an empire.
