Loncar: I think we'll adopt what Crisis HQ has proposed, decision on measures in a day or two

Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar today held a meeting with directors of Covid hospitals, after which he said that the plan was to make additional room for patients in Belgrade during the weekend. He said that a decision on new measures is being made, which is expected in a day or two.

"There are more and more directors present, which means that there are more and more Covid hospitals. Our goal was to provide beds for Belgrade, we made 500 places for the weekend. We have the reserve, the Selters Spa in Mladenovac and Banja (Spa) Koviljaca in Loznica, which will join with their capacities within a day or two. We went through all the hospitals in Serbia once again and provided all the capacities. I hope that citizens of Serbia can see what we are doing to take care of each patient, and I hope that they will help us. You know how they can help us, by temporarily giving up some of their habits," said Loncar.

The Serbian minister of health said the system is not about to break down but it is overloaded.

"A record number of examinations, admissions, workplace medicine got included, the Institute of Rheumatology joined last night, KCS (Clinical Center of Serbia) is looking for a solution that will turn the clinic into a Covid system, because Dermatology and Venereology cannot. You must know that we have a large number of patients who undergo dialysis and we are looking at everyone who can be sent home. We're trying to create enough room."

Asked if there will be new measures, he replied:

"We are currently in the process of making a decision on new measures. We have had proposals for new measures since yesterday. In a day or two, we will come out with a position regarding the situation. Above all, we listen to the professionals. What they suggest to us, I think we will adopt."
