Highest daily death toll in Slovenia since the beginning of pandemic: Almost 1,800 new cases

In the last 24 hours another 1,798 people became ill with coronavirus in Slovenia while anothe 23 died, TV Slovnija announced today.

This is also the largest number of deaths in one day since the beginning of the pandemic.

As announced by TV Slovenia, the government will present new measures to combat the pandemic during the day.

As it is stated, 6.68 people were tested, of whom 28.3 percent were positive for the Covid-19 disease.

There are 703 patients in hospitals, of which 122 are in intensive care.

As announced by a spokesman of the government, Jelko Kacin, starting next week, kindergartens will work to a limited extent, primary schools will be on a break, while activities in secondary schools and higher education institutions will be taking place online.

He said that a ban on movement at night, movement between municipalities and gathering of more than a set of people remain in force.

Prime Minister of Slovenia Janez Jansa assessed that the number of patients will probably grow for some time to come, and that the measures have therefore been extended for another week.
